Targets are set for each category and appropriate resources are identified to ensure that those targets are met. The University of Ottawa is aiming for a reduction of 35% of greenhouse gas by 2015 (using 2005 as a base year). The institution also wishes to implement various policies which would require that all new buildings and retrofits meet a minimum of LEED silver certification; a reduction in energy consumption by 2% annually in spite of growth, achieve a recycling diversion rate of 60% of all waste on campus, achieve a transportation modal split of 85%, and reduce domestic water consumption by 2% annually
