A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
The University has a Centre for organizational development and learning (CODL), which foster staff development at a personal, professional and organizational level, in order to create and promote: a culture of continuous learning; a workplace that recognizes contributions and fosters engagement; and strategies, tools and practices aimed at improving performance and developing the full potential of each staff member.
The Centre offers a variety of workshops and training activities as well as a number of certificate for the development of staff competencies. Diversity and inclusion are cross-cutting themes for all the Centre’s training activities. As well, the Centre offers a number of specific workshops on various aspects of diversity. The Leadership management program focuses on developing the leadership skills of Directors and Intermediate Managers. The University of Ottawa considers the certificates an asset when hiring for a position.
