A brief description of the child care program, policy, or practice:
Garderie Bernadette Child Care Centre is a small not-for-profit daycare that is located on the University of Ottawa campus. Our mission statement is: "GBCCC is a charitable organization that serves primarily the University of Ottawa community. Our licensed bilingual centre provides care and education to children aged six weeks to five years." Our vision is "GBCCC is a safe environment that fosters mutual respect, nurturing and innovation. Our values statement is: "The Community at GBCCC is dedicated to fostering a positive environment where unconditional love, confidence, autonomy and the modelling of parental values are primary. We work together as as team to encourage the children to discover and embrace their individualities and differences." The staff make-up of the Daycare includes a Director, 9 Educators and 1 Float, a Cook, and a Board of Directors made up of 10 volunteers from the community, the University and the Parents of the Centre. Educators at the Centre are fairly young, but each have special talents and skills that they bring to the Centre.
