The Certificate Program in Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) focuses on the mechanistic links that exist between environmental exposures, the molecular and cellular affects that ensue, and diseases of environmental etiology. Emphasis is placed on training in molecular toxicology, environmental and occupational health, molecular epidemiology, toxicogenomic, toxicoproteomics, and population-based and clinical/translational research. The goal is to explore mechanisms, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of diseases of environmental etiology. This is achieved by working with world-renowned experts in lung and airway disease, cancer causation, neurodegenerative disease, reproductive and developmental disorders, and cardiovascular disease.

Certificate of Study in Environmental Policy is granted by the Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Pennsylvania to Penn Law students who successfully complete its requirements. To qualify for the certificate, a student must successfully complete five courses in the general area of Environmental Policy. Two from the Law School, and three from a selection of courses in Environmental Studies.

The certificate in Climate Change is offered through the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. It focuses on giving students an understanding of the Earth's climate system and how and why it has changed over time. Goals include assessing mechanisms that drive climate change and the development of communication skills to more effectively share an understanding of climate change and its relevant policy implications with a broad audience.

Both public and campus engagement organizations partner with the Sustainability Office to create student internships, engage in environmental issues, and build knowledge around sustainability. The submission relies on information related to the main, academic, West Philadelphia campus, but to more fully document efforts across the Penn system, information related to the Morris Arboretum and New Bolton has also been referenced and noted as outside the boundary in descriptions.
