Has the institution engaged in a structured assessment process during the previous three years to improve diversity, equity and inclusion on campus?:
Yes
A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:
The President's Advisory Committee for Making Excellence Inclusive (PAC) has utilized data from exit surveys, retention and graduation studies, as well as hiring a consultant, Keeling and Associates, to evaluate the diversity, inclusion, and climate for diverse populations across campus. The Great Colleges to Work For survey is used to assess faculty and staff satisfaction by demographic groups. The National Survey of Student Engagement is used to determine student climate issues every other year and outcomes are shared with administrators to address gaps.
Does the assessment process address campus climate by engaging stakeholders to assess the attitudes, perceptions and behaviors of faculty, staff, administrators and students, including the experiences of underrepresented groups?:
Yes
Does the assessment process address student outcomes related to diversity, equity and success (e.g. graduation/success and retention rates for underrepresented groups)?:
Yes
Does the assessment process address employee outcomes related to diversity and equity (e.g. pay and retention rates for underrepresented groups)?:
Yes
A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:
The PAC will present a report by April 1, 2019 summing up its findings and indicating which structural, and policy changes are being recommended to the President's office. Plans for implementation of the recommendations are expected to be announced this summer. Preliminary results have already resulted in the University creating a multicultural space for students.
Are the results of the most recent structured diversity and equity assessment shared with the campus community?:
Yes
A brief description of how the assessment results are shared with the campus community:
The public report of the PAC will be shared with the University community on the president's website. It will include the climate report from Keeling and Associates and the report from the Interim Coordinating Council as complete addenda, available for anyone to see. It would be typical to also hold open meetings with the community to address constituents' questions about the recommendations and the plans moving forward. Annual demographic data and graduate rates can be found on our Office of Institutional Effectiveness website, https://ifx.richmond.edu/research/index.html. The results of the staff survey, Great Colleges to Work For, can be found here, https://ifx.richmond.edu/research/great-colleges.html. Communication between staff and administration comes up as a constant concern and the president's office now sends out regular email updates to the community, holds open forums for staff, and the Communications office has created a new staff newsletter.
Are the results (or a summary of the results) of the most recent structured diversity and equity assessment publicly posted?:
