The name of the national or international sustainability network(s):
The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) empowers higher education faculty, administrators, staff and students to be effective change agents and drivers of sustainability innovation. We work with and for higher education to ensure that our world’s future leaders are motivated and equipped to solve sustainability challenges.

Second Nature: From its founding, Second Nature has worked to expand higher education’s ability to solve pressing sustainability challenges. They do this by mobilizing a diverse array of higher education institutions to act on bold climate commitments, to scale campus climate initiatives, and to create innovative climate solutions.

VASHE Professional Network: Virginia Sustainability in Higher Education

The VASHE Professional Network (Virginia Sustainability in Higher Education) is a network of sustainability professionals working in institutions of higher education across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Participants communicate via an email listserv, quarterly conference calls and an annual in-person day-long meeting.

SCSN: Southeast Campus Sustainability Network
The Southeast Campus Sustainability Network (SCSN) is a network for the primary sustainability managers from colleges and universities in the South/Southeastern U.S. from Maryland to Texas. The group operates under a democratic, shared governance model and holds a monthly conference call to collaborate and share best practices. The annual regional gathering (held since 2013) is an opportunity to meet in person to advance sustainability leadership in the southeast via facilitated discussions, best practice sharing, collaboration, and networking.

Yes

A list or brief description of the sustainability resource center or awards program and submission(s):
The Office for Sustainability submitted case studies on the campus's waste reduction campaign Campus Race to Zero Waste on our plastic bag/soft plastics recover effort. This initiative, led by Nancy Propst, has resulted in more than a ton of waste diverted from the stream, equivalent to 200,000 plastic bags.

Yes

Rob Andreejewski, Director of Sustainability, serves on the city's RVA Green 2050 Sustainability Planning team, PlanRVA regional planning advisory group, and RVAH2O task force.

Richmond participated in the AASHE Mentoring Program from 2020-2021.

Yes

A brief description of the peer review activities:
The University of Richmond validated data for Virginia Commonwealth University's carbon sequestration project. VCU planted trees in the Carver neighborhood of Richmond. UR staff validated data on the location, type, and health of each tree.
