Course Inventory

A copy of the institution’s inventory of its sustainability course offerings and descriptions:
Do the figures reported above cover one, two, or three academic years?:
One

A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
A committee comprised of faculty, staff and students reviewed course titles and descriptions to determine qualifying classes. Keywords were initially used to search the course catalog descriptions of classes and then the committee reviewed courses that had keyword hits. While more than 400 courses were identified that were sustainability focused or related, during the 15-16 academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) only a fraction were held. This procedure was carried across the seven schools at USD- Joan B. Kroc School of Peace and Justice, School of Business, Hann School of Nursing, Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, School of Leadership and Education Science, School of Arts & Science and School of Law.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Other (please describe below)

A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted (if different from the options outlined above):
A discrepancy exists between the numbers in Part I of the credit and the attachment because only a portion of the courses were offered during the reported one-year performance period, while the database includes courses from a three-year period. Further, sustainability-focused classes were offered multiple times during performance period but the courses were only counted each time they were offered in a semester (regardless of the number of sections per semester). A total of 5 classes were offered in three different sessions (e.g. fall, spring, and intersession) and 11 courses were offered during two sessions. There were 50 sustainability-focused classes offered once during the performance period. The counts for the sustainability-related courses are as follows: 95 courses were offered once, 84 courses were offered twice, 36 courses were offered 3 times and 8 courses were offered 4 times.
