A brief description of the institution’s participation in an external network of anchor institutions:
“Higher education institutions are critical local economic engines and mission-driven organizations inextricably linked to the long-term well-being of those we serve—because of this, we as higher education leaders, are uniquely positioned and incentivized to play a more active role in supporting our local economies.”
USD is also nationally featured in a research study analyzing community engaged anchor work in four specific communities in San Diego including signature work in Tijuana, Mexico (please see hyper-local research link below).
USD has been part of the HEAMI initiative since 2017 and is also now part of the Anchor Learning Network. USD has a leadership role in this and USD team members are considered subject matter experts including a senior cabinet role with an Associate Vice President of Anchor Initiatives. USD will also be hosting the 2020 CUMU Conference and has significant influence in shaping the content and agenda.
