Managers share program information with their team and ask employees to self-nominate based on personal interest.

Champions receive an initial orientation to the Work Green certification checklist and process. On a monthly basis, champions receive tip sheets, links to resources, and ideas for engaging colleagues. Quarterly meetings allow champions to share successes and challenges and ensure continued improvement.

Small grants of up to $300 are available to help Work Green units invest in the adoption of greener practices. Currently one staff member oversees the Work Green program, including coordination, communication, and grant administration. Students were also hired to assist with researching and developing communications intended for Work Green participants on a wide variety of sustainability topics.
