Master of Science in Environmental Health Science
A brief description of the graduate-level degree program:
The Department of Environmental Health Science has launched its graduate program, Master of Science in Environmental Health, in Fall 2020-2021 after receiving its initial accreditation from UAE Ministry of Education. The program is a 33-credit hour program and comprises of two tracks – Track (A) Occupational Hygiene and Safety, and Track (B) Food Safety Management. Both tracks aim to prepare specialized Environmental Health professionals equipped with profound knowledge as well as professional, ethical, and research skills to work towards creating health-supportive and sustainable environments in line with UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda, national sustainability initiatives, as well as United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The M.Sc. program in Environmental Health has the following goals:
1. Produce competent Environmental Health graduates who can identify, assess, prevent and manage local as well as global environmental challenges in a comprehensive, technically-sound, ethical, and sustainable manner.
2. Provide continuing education with the necessary knowledge and aptitude skills to safeguard public health from environmental hazards and pollution.
3. Provide students with a robust foundation for further study at the doctoral level.
4. Enrich the number and variety of programs offered by the University of Sharjah.
5. Strengthen the research activities and publications within the department and university as part of the Strategic direction of UoS.

A brief description of the graduate degree program (2nd program):
Master of Science in environmental Science and Engineering Program to provide the opportunity for qualified graduates in different disciplines from science and engineering to advance their knowledge and skills in modern environmental perspectives and challenges. The intent is also to prepare students to engage in multidisciplinary fields with independent and collaborative research in academic, governmental, and industrial contexts. During this learning process, students will participate in knowledge generation and improvement, research synthesis, and knowledge/technology transfer. The Program is also intended to support the development of quality and relevant research, especially applied research in pertinent environmental fields to UAE and the region. The Program is comprised of two major tracks:

The use of plants, animals and bacteria, enhanced by areas such as genetics and genomics, gives rise to new food, fiber and chemical production routes, and new strategies for environmental protection and stewardship, all central requirements as the global population increases over the coming decades. The Department of Applied Biology at the University of Sharjah offers a Master of Science in Biotechnology program that prepares graduates to confidently confront current and future challenges in an exciting profession and equip them with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and knowledge discovery and application skills.
