A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
This course inventory was prepared and completed by the Sustainability Curriculum Circle with support from the Deanship of Quality Assurance, Institutional Effectiveness, and Accreditation as well as the University Colleges and academic Departments. The Sustainability Curriculum Circle is one of many circles working under the umbrella of the Sustainability office (https://www.sharjah.ac.ae/en/Administration/Sustainability/Pages/default.aspx) at University of Sharjah. The data represented here reflects only the University of Sharjah Main Campus (Sharjah Campus). The list of courses listed in this report represents three academic years 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.
The Sustainability Curriculum Circle asked each department at UoS (main campus) to provide the list of courses that are sustainability-focused or -inclusive. In addition, it was required also to summarize how each course reported is related to sustainability. In order to increase the faculty member's awareness of sustainability, and course classifications into sustainability-focused or sustainability-inclusive, we followed STARS definition. The examples provided in the STARS manual (AC-01- p.8 & p.9) were very helpful guides to faculty members. The constraints of excluding courses as indicated by the STARS manual were introduced to faculty members to follow.
After receiving the sustainability-related courses from different departments, we sent the list to the Deanship of Quality Assurance, Institutional Effectiveness, and Accreditation seeking their help to provide us with the number of sections offered and students enrolled in these courses in the last three academic years. In addition, they provided us with the number of the academic departments at UoS main campus in the last three years.
Note: The attached MS Word file (2-AC1_Summary_Sustainability_Courses) summarized the numbers of focused, inclusive, courses and sections for undergraduate and graduate levels as well as the number of courses and sections at the University of Sharjah main campus over the three academic years (2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20).
Please see the attached template (3-AC_1_Template) that we distributed to colleges so departments can include the sustainability-related courses offered by them.

How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course
A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
Each offering or section of a course was counted as an individual course. That is, courses were counted based on the number of sections offered in the last three academic years. For example, the course Design for Energy Efficiency from the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering Department were offered with two sections in Fall and two sections in Spring each year over the past three years. That is, each year it was offered four times and for the last three years it was offered 12 times.
