Water efficient appliances installed and response to COVID-19 pandemic
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The University of Sharjah has recently phased out all water non-efficient taps and replaced them with either automatic type taps or installed faucet aerators to reduce water wastage, in collaboration with Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority.
Irrigation of green spaces, plants, and flowers throughout the University is carried out by efficient irrigation
systems such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation systems as well
The University of Sharjah adopted various approaches in ensuring hygiene and safety at times of COVID-19: disinfectant chambers were installed in select on-campus locations, existing ample handwashing facilities were made readily available to all users throughout all the buildings, and hand sanitizer containers were placed abundantly throughout corridors, classroom entrances, meeting rooms, etc. Additionally, COVID-19 prevention instructions, including handwashing, were made available on electronic platforms as well as on visual displays
