University of Sharjah’s Facilities Department uses 14 electric golf carts to move its maintenance staff around the campus. The service of several similar vehicles are provided to move female students from the dorms to their classrooms. A number of faculty members and students use scooters and bicycles to move from their houses and dorms to their classes and offices. The University of Sharjah provides a number of bicycle tracks around the campus.
Moreover, the University of Sharjah launched several transportation Initiatives to Decrease Private Vehicles on Campus, which are:
1. Free shuttle inside the campus
2. Free bus service from the city
3. Covered walking pathways/corridors
4. Developing Travel Demand Forecasting Model for Sustainable Sharjah University City
5. An Innovative Electric Vehicles Charging Station Powered with Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems at University of Sharjah
