A brief description of other materials the institution has recycled, composted, donated and/or re-sold:
, 2021, there was a major positive change in the waste management system
at the University of Sharjah. The University has signed a mega contract with Bee’ah, the largest waste
management company in the country, such that they collect all the waste generated on campus. This was a
remarkable step towards achieving maximum sustainability in the waste management sector on campus, as
the company has applied a dual-bin waste separation and collection system throughout the campus, i.e.,
the single commingle waste containers were replaced by two bins (one for recyclables and another for nonrecyclables
Moreover, to facilitate the participation of the residents in waste separation on-campus, the Sustainability Office was allocated two parcels of land that were used to construct a Community Recycling Centre, and a Waste Sorting Center. Both facilities were advertised and opened for public early in 2021.
Donation boxes are distributed throughout the campus to collected reusable items for charity. Those boxes are very important as the campus include several dormitories and there is regularly students moving in and out.
Also, we re-sell empty cartridges and some green waste
