USC follows NIH requirements, which have established a Public Access Policy, which mandates that journal articles that arise from NIH funding must be submitted to PubMed central for open access.

USC does not have a published policy that requires its employees to publish scholarly works open access or archive final post-peer reviewed versions of scholarly works in an open access repository. However, USC does have subscriptions with some vendors, the cost of which covers article processing charges if scholars opt to publish in an open access mode.

USC Libraries does not have a fund for this, but does have subscriptions with some vendors, the cost of which covers article processing charges if scholars opt to publish in an open access mode.

Select USC Libraries journal subscription agreements may be modified to transformative or read-publish agreements that would allow for no article processing charges for USC authors accepted for publication in Open Access journals. These agreements are in place for Cambridge University Press and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for 2021-2023.
