A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
New USC non-academic employees are onboarded every two weeks and go through a set routine of events and tasks on orientation day. In Fall 2019, the Office of Sustainability began participating in all New Employee Orientation sessions, which creates an opportunity for sustainability engagement and resources to be made available to 100% of non-academic USC staff. Office of Sustainability staff attend the two-hour New Employee Resource Fair and engage with each individual employees by highlighting the university's sustainability goals and programs, explaining how they play a role in helping to achieve those goals, and providing resources for how they can be sustainability champions in their new jobs. The Office of Sustainability also has partnered with the Orientation team to make select New Employee Resource Fairs zero-waste by providing consultation on how to obtain and implement the proper infrastructure and educational materials.
