A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:
In fall 2010, the Office of Sustainability developed a preliminary list of undergraduate and graduate sustainability courses offered at UT Knoxville during the 2010-11 school year. The initial list was derived by searching course descriptions in the online 2010-11 undergraduate and graduate catalogs for any of the following keywords: "environment", "sustainability", "sustainable", "ecology", "ecological", "energy", "climate", or "green"
Once developed, the preliminary list of sustainability courses was published on the Faculty Senate listserv and UT Make Orange Green website. Faculty members were encouraged to comment on and make suggestions for the list. The feedback that faculty provided was incorporated into the final version of the list.
