A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
Team Vols, an organization made up of UT Knoxville student volunteers, partners with the local community on a number of sustainability-related service projects. Two recent Team Vols community partnerships are described below.
Knoxville Beautification: This program engages students with tree plantings, litter pick-ups, and park clean-ups that are coordinated by South Knoxville Beautification, Friends of the Fort, and other local environmental agencies.
Ijams Nature Center: Team Vols has assisted this wildlife sanctuary and environmental learning center with several events, including an annual plant sale and (in past years) a triathlon.
