UT Dallas is actively engaged in forming supportive sustainability-based partnerships. For example, during Earth Week in 2015, UT Dallas partnered with the Texas Trees Foundation to provide volunteers to maintaining nature sites. In addition, partnerships developed to support a local food bank. Local partnerships to support academic programs have emerged as well.

The University of Texas at Dallas has extensive history in engagement and services within the local community. With the development of and support by the Department of Community Engagement within the Office of Diversity, the department ensures that the university is actively engaged throughout the community. The Department of Community Engagement is charged with fostering collaborations in our region that increases student diversity at the University and increases college access.
