A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:
Students receive a free DART pass that opens the opportunity for no cost travel by means of bus and rail systems in the DFW area.
The Comet Cab is a free, domestically based service that transports student, staff, and faculty all across the university to reduce the need for driving individual vehicles to different locations on-campus.
To calculate the percentage of students with alternative commutes, the following data were used:
-The total number of students living in on-campus housing, as these students have no commute to school.
-Total number of riders of our bus system in October 2015.
-Daily, weekly, and monthly ridership numbers are provided by busing contractor.
-Daily numbers were averaged to determine the number of students who commute via bus.
UT Dallas has not conducted a commute survey for students, staff, and/or faculty.
