UFV is also a member of the United Nations Academic Impact Initiative (UNAI). UNAI is an initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing to the realization of United Nations goals and mandates, including the promotion and protection of human rights, access to education, sustainability and conflict resolution.

UFV is a part of Energy Wise. The Energy Wise Network is a community of leaders who are passionate about sustainability and engaging people at their organization to reduce energy and use resources wisely. In partnership with FortisBC, Energy Wise helps run campaigns to encourage people to reduce energy use by offering you a variety of tools, resources and ideas. As a member of the Energy Wise Network, UFV has access to training, networking opportunities, campaign toolkits, customized coaching and incentive funding. Other regional higher education Energy Wise network members include the University of Victoria, Simon Fraser University, University of Northern BC, and Thompson Rivers University.

Changemaker Campus is an Ashoka designation that recognizes colleges and universities with a proven track record of campus-wide excellence for social innovation and changemaking. Ashoka builds and cultivates a community of change leaders who transform institutions and cultures so they support changemaking for the good of society.
Changemaker institutions are "the Leading Designation for Social Innovation in Higher Education" and collaborate with each other and Ashoka to advance social innovation and changemaking across higher education to graduate millions of changemakers.
Selection criteria includes a commitment to embedding changemaking across the academics and the institution itself. While they differ in terms of size, institutional type, geographic location, religious affiliation, and age, they are global leaders in social innovation and changemaking in higher education and share similar visions of what education and universities can be.

A UFV Professor is a member of Colleges & Institutes Canada and sits on their board. Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) is the voice of Canada’s publicly-supported colleges, institutes, cegeps and polytechnics, and an international leader in education for employment with ongoing programs in over 25 countries. CICan’s members add over $190B to Canada’s economy each year and contribute to inclusive economic growth by working with industry and community partners to offer more than 10,000 programs to learners in urban, rural, remote, and northern communities.
This year, CICAN reaffirmed its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
One year after signing the SDG Accord, CICan produced a first report outlining how its many programs, activities and partnerships help support the SDGs in Canada and abroad. It focuses on key goals that have inspired CICan’s strategic plan: Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Climate Action (SDG 13) and Quality Education (SDG 4) which is treated as an overarching theme at CICan.
