A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:
While several buildings on UFV were certified for LEED Gold for New Construction, UFV does not currently have any building spaces certified under a 3rd Party Operations and Maintenance (O+M) rating system.
That said, in all buildings, best practices aligned with single-attribute sustainable management programs are followed. Practices include:
- Shifting power tools and machinery to battery-powered options.
- Most chemicals used in operations are Green Seal or EcoLogo products.
- Staff use microfiber tools and cloths for cleaning that are cleaned in-house to limit the use of disposable items.
- Separating all our waste streams to limit contamination. Unfortunately, UFV has not secured a waste disposal company that can ensure the same practice, and that is something UFV will be working on addressing.
