Since January 2010, Pacific is to secure at a minimum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ “Silver” or its equivalent for all new buildings and to secure an estimate of the full cost to secure a LEED “Silver” (or its equivalent) for all proposed major renovation projects costing at least $1 million and strive to meet this standard within project budget restraints. Four buildings are LEED for new construction certified:
Don and Karen DeRosa University Center, 2008 - LEED Silver
John T. Chambers Technology Center, 2010 - LEED Gold
Vereschagin Alumni House, 2011 - LEED Gold
San Francisco Campus Building, 2013 – LEED Gold
Only the San Francisco Campus Building was constructed within the last 5 years and is counted in the square footage for this credit. The square footage of buildings constructed more than 5 years ago are not reflected in this credit.

Pacific’s Green Building policy is to secure at a minimum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System™ “Silver” or its equivalent for all new buildings and to secure an estimate of the full cost to secure a LEED “Silver” (or its equivalent) for all proposed renovation projects costing at least $1 million and strive to meet this standard within project budget restraints.
Major renovations included those that effect major building systems. They do not include basic tenant improvement refreshes such as new paint, carpeting, furniture, etc.).

A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
Pacific's commitment to sustainable building design and construction is known and implemented by Facilities Planning, Design, Construction and Space Management staff and is clearly communicated to architects, vendors and contractors. Board approval documents for projects address adherence to the University’s Green Building policy. When certification is sought, LEED certification is determined by the USGBC in accordance with the building certification process, and the University’s project team works closely with this certification agency to secure certification. Additionally, the University complies with all building codes, including the more stringent California building codes and current legislation such as Title 24, which include many green building design and construction guidelines and standards.
