A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
Faculty Governance & Academic Council: Faculty participate in the governance process and recommend policies for consideration through the University committee structure and Academic Council. The University of the Pacific Academic Council recommends policy concerning curricular, faculty and other academic issues. Faculty representatives are elected by the faculty in each school or college for three-year terms. All three campuses are represented on the Council. The number of faculty representatives from each unit is determined by the number of tenured or tenure-track faculty in the unit.
Staff Advisory Council: The S.A.C. serves as an advisory body representing staff in university matters to university administration. S.A.C. is a resource for staff to address concerns and issues, represent staff on various university committees, promote and encourage staff development, and support activities to build community and increase employee morale.
ASuop: The Associated Students of the University of the Pacific (ASuop) is the governing student body that is responsible for advocating and working on behalf of student concerns. To benefit students, ASuop Government maintains close working relationships with the Division of Student Life and partnerships around the Stockton community.

The Beyond Our Gates Initiative has two governing bodies:
Beyond Our Gates Community Council: The group consists of educators, non-profit leaders, the business community, faith community, arts community and assorted others. Council meets four times per year on campus (pre-COVID) for programs with content centered around early childhood literacy and education. About 90 people are involved in the Community Council, and about 40-45 attendees regularly attend each meeting.

Members represent educational institutions, non-profits, the business community, faith community, and assorted others with four members representing the university.
