The Diversity Leadership Team conducted a series of open dialogs (BOR doc) and interviews with individuals as well as groups to get feedback on a Diversity Implementation Plan. The Plan prioritized recruitment/retention efforts to increase the number of diverse individuals on campus; strengthening curricular and co-curricular diversity efforts and improving the quality of university climate regarding diversity.
Additionally, in the spring of 2020 the COACHE survey was distributed to faculty and a Ruffalo Noel Levitz College Satisfaction Survey (CESS) survey was distributed to non-academic staff and students. The COACHE survey assessed and compared the work environment for faculty by stage of professorship, gender and identity as faculty of color.
The CESS included questions in the following five areas: campus culture and politics; institutional goals; involvement in planning and decision making; work environment; demographics.

Pacific addresses issues raised by the surveys through shared governance mechanisms such as Academic Council and University Committees, Presidential directives and Provost initiatives. Recent initiatives include:
- Create a position of Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Regents Committee on Excellence identified diversity issues as a top priority and was charged with exploring how to infuse diversity conversations into each Regents meeting
- Establish DEI Leads at every University school
- Move to make Annual DEI trainings for faculty and staff mandatory
- Understand recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and staff. Director of affirmative action and equal employment opportunity, delivered first quarterly report to Cabinet, focusing on personnel movement by race, and made recommendations on how to improve diversity in Pacific's workforce.
- Drafting DEI measures in annual evaluations
