Research Inventory
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
See list attached.
A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
All tenure-track and tenured faculty are required to dedicate a portion of their workload to scholarly and artistic achievements (per the Faculty Handbook). For the purposes of this inventory, these scholarly, artistic achievements include but are not limited to publications and are referred to as research. Institutional Research provided the number of tenure and tenure-track faculty in Fall 2022. It was assumed all departments have research faculty by this definition.
To identify sustainability researchers the following steps were taken:
1. Searched for existing publications in bepress within the given three year timeframe. https://works.bepress.com/experts/university-of-the-pacific/
2. Searched bepress for the following terms:
a. sustainability
b. biodiversity
c. climate change
d. greenhouse gas
e. renewable
f. carbon
g. water
h. climate, climate change
i. solar
j. emissions
3. For researchers who did not have publications in the past three years, sustainability staff manually searched their Bepress and Campus Directory pages for qualifying related interest areas and academic activities.
Note, initially a form was created for faculty to submit sustainability courses and self identify as researching sustainability topics. This was not successful in providing data.
