In 2023 All employees and students were invited to complete the Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey administered by the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS). 25% of Pacificans responded.
Employee and job satisfaction surveys tend to be every five years. The most recent were completed by faculty and staff in spring 2020.
University of the Pacific partnered with the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education to conduct a Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey as a follow-up to the faculty survey COACHE conducted in 2015. All faculty had the opportunity to participate in the survey and 51% of faculty completed it. COACHE developed their standard survey based on scholarly literature, interviews with faculty, and focus groups with senior academic administrators at multiple institutions. The survey helps assess and benchmark the faculty experience based on the following major themes: Diversity & Inclusion; Nature of Work; Resources and Support; Cross-Silo Work and Mentorship; Tenure and Promotion; Institutional Leadership; Shared Governance; The Department; Appreciation and Recognition; Retention and Negotiation. In spring 2020, the university invited all non-academic staff to participate in the Ruffalo Noel Levitz College Employee Satisfaction Survey (CESS). The survey includes questions in the following five areas: campus culture and politics; institutional goals; involvement in planning and decision making; work environment; demographics. 27% of staff completed the survey.
