Name of the institution’s featured sustainability program, initiative, or accomplishment:
Nation's highest-ranked private Hispanic Serving Institution

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
In February, 2024, Pacific was designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. There are more than 300 four-year universities designated as HSIs in the U.S., about half public colleges and universities and half private. Pacific is the highest-ranked private national university—as rated by U.S. News & World Report—to achieve HSI status. Additionally, Pacific was already an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution as designated by the U.S. Department of Education. These designations demonstrate that high-quality, private education can be accessible to historically underserved groups.

Third Point of Distinction

Name of a third highlighted program/initiative/accomplishment:
Community Service

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
Serving the community is part of the Pacific student experience. Pacific students logged 287,627 community service hours AY 2022-2023. Based on STARS benchmarking that puts Pacific in the top 10 in community service hours for similarly sized, U.S. institutions.

The Volunteer Center, Sustainability and a few student organizations all offer community service opportunities. The bulk of service hours come from College Corps and clinics.

Clinics are offered by School of Pharmacy, McGeorge School of Law and Dugoni School of Dentistry and frequently service low-income individuals. McGeorge service hours are from externships, Homeless Advocacy Clinic, Federal Defender Clinic, Prisoner Mediation, Legislative Policy and Community Legal Services. Community Legal Services Include: Bankruptcy, Immigration, Homeless Advocacy, and Elder and Health Law Clinic. Externships are limited to government agencies, non-profits, and courts. The work students perform serves all the people of the respective community including the low-income, with several targeting specific low-income or disadvantage communities. https://law.pacific.edu/law/legal-clinics

Service hours from the Dugoni School of Dentistry are from: Dental clinic, extramural patient care, co-curricular volunteer community service and International service million. California’s DentiCal program serves low-income individuals, including families, seniors, persons with disabilities, and others. The school's dental clinics have a number of Dentical patients. https://dental.pacific.edu/dental/dental-services
