The University established a health and safety baseline in 1988 to track and investigate workplace injuries, with the goal of elimination and reduction of accident related illnesses, injuries and property and environmental damages.

The University is committed to supporting the safety, health and welfare of the campus community. The program provides all UVM departments and individual members of our campus a variety of health and safety trainings, injury tracking and investigation and proposes solutions to occupational and environmental health and safety problems. As a result, the department of Risk Management and Safety have trained staff dedicated to the oversight of various health and safety programs such as Fire Safety, Office Ergonomics, Laboratory Safety and Driver Training.
