The University of Virginia Desktop Computing Initiative provides departmental support for acquisition of computers and monitors. Although DCI does not have specific preference to purchase EPEAT, all standard laptops, desktops, and workstations carried by DCI are EPEAT silver of higher. DCI has identifies the following sustainability goals on their website:
DCI offers:
1. Energy-saving computers – Most DCI computers are Energy Star rated.
2. Recycling of parts and computers through the manufacturer – DCI does not contribute to the local landfills by sending back old computers and parts to the manufacturer.
3. Hybrid delivery vehicle – DCI uses a Ford Escape Hybrid for many of its deliveries
