A brief description of the institution’s employee community service initiatives:
UVA provides all FT employees with 16 hours of community service time each year that they can use to do whatever service they want, including chaperoning at school trips etc. Also, we typically have about 1,000 employees participate in the United Way Day of Caring each year, and we contribute close to $1M in the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign (CVC), a giving program to charities of their choice.

We know from the National Survey of Student Engagement (2011) that 81% of UVA undergraduate students do service while they are at UVA ~ 12,150 students
We know from the Student Experience in the Research University survey (2014) that 70% of UG students do service in a year ~ 10,500.
