Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
A large majority of the data provided comes from UVA's Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching report, published on October 17, 2018. The report notes that 4,926 students contributed towards 106,168 hours of service through Madison House; 100 law students contributed 14,934 hours towards pro bono support programs; around 100 students contributed 6,000 hours through the gender-inclusive APO service fraternity; and 80 students contributed 2,000 hours through the Fralin volunteer teaching program.
The data above also includes information on Greek life and community-service requirements. Over 4,800 students contributed approximately 78,000 hours during the 2017-2018 academic as part of their commitment to fraternity and sorority programming.
Lastly, the data includes a number of sustainability-oriented volunteer opportunities, including garden workdays, corner clean-ups, and Game Day Recycling Challenge participation. Approximately 300 students contributed around 1,800 hours in those efforts.
