The Civic Engagement Subcommittee, comprised of staff, faculty, and students, oversees the Equity and Environment Fund. EQUITY & ENVIRONMENT FUND
The Equity and Environment Fund, supported by the Civic Engagement Subcommittee, is available for students/student groups for community-based initiatives or projects that sit at the intersection of equity, justice, and sustainability. Proposals are now being accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more about the criteria for projects and how to submit a proposal. GIFT GRANT
The GIFT (Green Initiatives Funding Tomorrow) Grant is funded by the Student Council’s Sustainability Committee with assistance from the Office of the Dean of Students. GIFT has provided tens of thousands of dollars for student sustainability initiatives since 2011, allowing students to solve sustainability challenges on Grounds through innovation and creativity. See the 2019 GIFT Annual Report for previous projects. There is no deadline to apply as funding will be allocated on a rolling basis. Email completed applications to studco-sustainability@virginia.edu.

TEACHING & RESEARCH SEED GRANTS
The UVA Sustainability Teaching & Research Subcommittee has been awarding $8,000 seed grants to faculty members since fall 2016. Full-time faculty members may apply for a grant to support the development of a new (or significantly revised) sustainability-related course or to support a new sustainability-related research project. Requests for proposals go out in the fall and spring semesters. Here are the latest RFPs for Course Development Grants and for Research Development Grants. If the deadlines have passed, then we are not currently seeking proposals. Please check back at a later date or email sustainability@virginia.edu with questions.
