A brief description of the certified/verified sources of clean and renewable electricity:
The University and Darden are purchasing for 25 years the entire output of electricity produced at UVA Hollyfield Solar project, a 160-acre 17 MW (AC) solar facility owned and operated by Dominion Energy, that came online in September 2018. The University also has contracted, under a 25-year agreement, to purchase the output of Dominion Energy’s 120-acre 15 MW (AC) Puller Solar facility that came online in November 2018.
A brief description of the on-site renewable electricity generating facilities/devices:
In 2016, a 15 kW solar PV array was installed on Skipwith Hall. Additionally, in 2017 a 126 kW solar PV array was installed on the roof of Clemmons Library. The University also installed a 10 kW photovoltaic array at Alderman Substation the same year. In 2018, UVA added a 120 kW PV solar array on the Ivy Stacks building.
UVA is leasing the roof space on Ridley Hall and the Bookstore to Dominion Power which holds a combined 364 kW solar array.
