A brief description of the campus-community council or equivalent body that gives external stakeholders a regular voice in institutional decisions that affect them:
UVA Equity Center and the Equity Center Local Steering Committee: https://virginiaequitycenter.org/local-steering-committee-members
"The Equity Center’s priorities will be guided by what we heard during our community listening sessions held in August and May 2018, and by the 3000+ responses from community members to the survey the UVA – Community Working Group completed in March 2019." Equity Center Priorities: https://virginiaequitycenter.org/community-priorities
The Equity Center will tangibly redress racial and economic inequity in university communities by advancing a transformative approach to the fundamental research mission, which will, in turn, reform institutional values, pedagogy, and operations. The Equity Center envisions universities that serve local communities by bringing rich research resources to bear on the work of redressing poverty and racial inequality, and also equip students to lead in building a just society.

President's Council on UVA-UVA Community Partnerships (https://prescouncil.president.virginia.edu/): "Strengthening the relationship between UVA and the surrounding Charlottesville/Albemarle community is one of my top priorities as president. The President’s Council on UVA-Community Partnerships and the affiliated working groups are helping us engage with our community partners to make our community as strong and equitable as possible."

UVA Community Relations Neighborhood Groups: Because changes on Grounds can impact our neighbors too, Community Relations communicates University news and developments to area residents. The office actively works with residents, University officials and students to address issues of mutual interest and concern that often arise when student renters live among longer-term residents.

The office meets regularly with neighborhood associations bordering the University and hosts Neighborhoods Advisory Group and other meetings throughout the year to promote ongoing dialogue with neighborhood residents.

Master Planning Council:
The Master Planning Council advisees the President and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, through the Architect for the University, on mid-term and long term physical planning for the University of Virginia. It reviews and comments on the Grounds Plan and overall planning as to the best utilization of the existing buildings, landscape, and infrastructure, as well as participate as general stakeholders in the development of precinct/area plans. The Council is comprised of stakeholders across the University and City and County representatives.
