UVA does not typically use ISO or similar international standards for occupational health and safety management systems. We comply with national and state regulations (e.g. OSHA), recognized consensus guidelines (e.g. CDC/NIH for biosafety), as well as pertinent occupational health and safety standards set by organizations such as ANSI, UL, NIOSH and American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

All incidents reported to UVA are entered into MC Innovations’ web portal and the MC Innovations team processes the claims for the State of Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. DHRM tracks the incidents, and calculates based on the state’s fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). The data above has been calculated based on the 2022 calendar year, based on DHRM data.
