A brief description of the program, including an indication of its scope (e.g., the number of bicycles the program makes available, participation levels, etc.):
Although the University of Washington does not have a bicycle sharing program at this time, the University has been actively involved with a regional stakeholder group to bring a system to the Seattle region. The group recently established a non-profit organization, Puget Sound Bike Share, to raise funds for a system and is in the process of hiring an executive director. PSBS hopes to hear back soon about a Washington State Department of Transportation grant that would cover the capital costs of bicycle sharing in the University District. The group’s full business plan and implementation strategy includes launching bike sharing in the University District in the first launch phase, which is currently slated for late 2013. Information about Puget Sound Bike Share, its executive summary and full business plan, is available on its website.
