A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
Three of ten of the high level goals in the University of Washington Campus Master Plan address aspects of sustainability. These sustainability-related goals include "Respect the Environment, Encourage Efficiency, and Value the Community."
Additionally as part of the University's 2 Years 2 Decades initiative (2Y2D) a campus of the 21st Century visioning document outlines sustainability objectives related to physical campus planning as follows:
"The buildings and open spaces that make up the physical geography of the UW community are an essential part of our identity and future. Going forward, our idea of campus will be more holistic, including a greater emphasis on people and programs, as well as the places and collaborative spaces that make up our academic, social, clinical, and entrepreneurial geographies. Boundaries between inside and outside spaces, on-campus and off-campus, will become more porous as our learning environment increasingly incorporates the spaces between buildings, between people, between classes, and between campus and the community. Administrative units such as facilities and maintenance will actively serve the educational mission by collaborating with faculty and students to use the campus as a test bed for research and experiential learning."
