A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:
The University of Washington has embedded sustainability plans and goals into several high level planning documents including the Sustainable Academic Business Plan, the Campus Master Plan (land & transportation), the Climate Action Plan which covers broader sustainability topics beyond greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies, and the 2Y2D Campus of the 21st Century.
The Sustainable Academic Business Plan was developed through working groups within the 2y2d initiative, including suggestions from more than 3,500 faculty, staff and students. The Campus Master Plan was developed with input from the broader community and over 100 faculty, staff and students working in focus groups. The University's Climate Action Plan draft was developed in 2009 through collaboration of more than 150 faculty, staff and students from all 3 UW campuses with final input from the entire campus of nearly 70,000 faculty, staff and students.

Incorporate sustainable land use planning into real estate and capital project decision making.
Source more local & sustainable foods.
Expand recycling and reuse programs across campus and in athletics.
Reduce motor vehicle traffic and expand alternative commuting modes.

Food- percent local/organic food, and % real food
Composting - measured by weight
Recycling - measured by weight
UW Athletics measures their waste diversion after football games in the stadium by weight.
Commuting is measured by commuter mode through surveys
Potable water for irrigation is measured by volume.
Impervious surfaces are measured by area.
