The Green Certification program works with offices to create sustainability ambassadors in offices to be a peer-to-peer sustainability resource for their colleagues. All workspaces are eligible to participate in the Green Office or Green Laboratory programs.

The UW Sustainability office runs the Green Certification programs for Green Office and Green Lab workspaces at the University of Washington. These programs identify sustainability champions in workplaces at UW, who would serve as peer-to-peer educators in their workspace.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach:
UW Sustainability provides information to employee champions on a variety of efforts and programs that can help their work space become more sustainable, as well as providing quarterly topic-specific updates.
A brief description of the financial and/or administrative support the institution provides to the program (e.g. annual budget and/or paid faculty/staff coordination):
The UW Sustainability office has a staff overseeing the Green Certification programs and a student program coordinator who both work on the program, including reaching out and providing training to the sustainability champions.

The Business Diversity Program (BDP) promotes the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by encouraging the UW community to consider small, local and diverse businesses when sourcing and purchasing goods and services.
A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (2nd program):
BDP works with administrative staff across our campuses so that they can better support purchasing staff in their departments in the procurement of goods and services from small and diverse vendors. These efforts identify BDB champions in offices at UW who serve as peer-to-peer educators in their workspace.
A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive to prepare them to conduct peer outreach (2nd program):
BDP staff schedule orientation meetings with administrative staff to train them on use of UW procurement systems, resources available, and other ways they can support small and diverse vendors.

BDP has two full time staff.
