Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The University of Waterloo is not currently a member of either the Worker Rights Consortium or the Fair Labor Association. However, the Retail Services Department made a voluntary commitment many years ago to ensure that the products it sources are produced under fair, safe working conditions. Before establishing a relationship with a new vendor, Retail Services requires that it sign a form verifying its adherence to “just labour practices.” While one does not currently exist, Retail Services is also working with the University of Waterloo’s Office of Legal & Immigration Services and the University Relations Department to develop a Trademark Licensing Agreement. This new agreement, once implemented, will be used to extend the requirement of adherence to fair, safe labour practices to university products sourced from/via off-campus vendors.
