A brief description of the open access repository:
The university supports open access in a variety of ways including provision of an institutional repository to meet Tri Agency Open Access Policy requirements as of 2015, a service to review researcher publications lists, identify those that can be made open access and facilitate deposit, mandatory deposit of masters and PhD theses and dissertations, provision of a repository for research data with a research data management consultation service, provision of a platform for publishing open access journals, discounts on open access journal fees through publisher agreements, support of open access organizations such as arXiv and Bioline International, provision of workshops on author rights and open access deposit, and education on open educational resources. The Open Scholarship Committee serves as the primary forum for collaboration regarding open access on campus. Central resources provided by Waterloo to facilitate the efforts above help reduce or eliminate fees for individual faculty members to pursue open access.
