A brief description of the technology used:
Whenever an area is renovated, Western explores the possibility of installing occupancy or vacancy sensors. The sensors are a combination of ultrasonic and infrared technologies that provide occupants the most effective control over lighting. These sensors are in place at the D. B. Weldon Library and the Clinical Skills Facility.
A program is being introduced across campus to harvest daylight by using daylight sensors and auto-dimming features. This helps to reduce in-door lighting without compromising levels of lighting for safety. McIntosh Gallery is one of the buildings where this technology can be found.
