A brief description of steps the institution has taken to ensure that the purchasing policy, directives, or guidelines are followed :
Although Western does not purchase post-consumer recycled content paper, the Graphic Services at Western use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper in all three print shop operations.
Milled in Canada and supported by the World Wildlife Fund and the Rainforest Alliance, FSC paper is verified to guarantee that it has come from FSC managed forests and mills. FSC rejects fibres from areas of social conflict and illegal logging; genetically modified trees; high-conservation value forests; and large-scale conversions that replace native tree species with faster growing non-native species.
