WESTERN UNIVERSITY SIGNS THE PLEDGE AS A COMMITED INSTITUTION TO A GREENER WORLD
Western’s president Amit Chakma signed the Council of Ontario Universities’ Commitment to a Greener World on November 2009. This commitment establishes our responsibility to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge on sustainability and climate change, inside and outside of Western. ONTARIO'S ENERGY SECTOR
The Ivey Energy Policy and Management Centre tackles the inherent complexity of energy policy through an interdisciplinary approach that considers the economic, political, social, and environmental concerns. It brings an independent, fact-based perspective to the dialogue to clarify issues. Several policy briefs and other studies look at the Energy market in Ontario, from governance of Local Distribution Companies, to consumer advocacy and renewable energy generation that can help advance Ontario’s energy market.

PRESIDENT’S LETTER ON IMMIGRATION EXECUTIVE ORDER
Western’s president Amit Chakma released a statement in reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s executive order that came out Friday. The order prevents individuals from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States for 90 days and an indefinite ban on Syrian refugees. In addition, Western University approved and joined the message offered by Universities Canada on January 29, 2017, supporting its American counterparts and condemning this type of executive decision.
