A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
UW Oshkosh was the first college in the US to declare itself a Fair Trade University. The model was borrowed from a movement in the United Kingdom, but built upon efforts that were already started on the UW Oshkosh campus by interested faculty, staff and students. Today, the university has a very active Fair Trade Committee, numerous products for sale through dining, vending machine, and store outlets, and curriculum and events that teach fair trade issues.
