A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
The 2001 Campus Exterior Master Plan included sustainability as one of 7 update themes. Other update themes (Circulation and Wayfinding, Protection of Historic Campus Core, Parking) were linked to sustainability as concerns about pedestrian safety and options for alternative transportation. An update theme for Upgrading Facilities included major energy and water efficiency improvements.
The 2010-2011 update looked at some specific issues related to transportation, stormwater, and cooling buildings. A transportation study recommended specific improvements that would improve pedestrian safety with traffic rerouting, street closures, and improved pedestrian crossings. Parking lot designs were reviewed to add stormwater abatement features.
