A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
While not formally tracked, staff are encouraged to participate in community service organizations (Lions, Rotary, etc.). Many staff serve on boards, committees, and organizations throughout the community and region. Release time is available to attend meetings as needed.
Several university service activities are sponsored each year where employees are encouraged to participate. Supervisors are encouraged to make accommodations so employees can participate either during or outside of work hours while still receiving pay. A recent event was a large event to make and prepare several hundred bag lunches for distribution in the Twin Cities. Another annual event is the Don't Throw It, Donate It program facilitated at the end of the academic year. Employees assist with collections as well as sorting and inventory of all collections that are then donated. Employees also regularly participate in annual fall and spring campus cleanup days.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Our campus does not have a centralized office that supports service/service-learning. Through the Office of Student Involvement, we offer service programs and promote community service events, but we do not formally track the service participants/hours.
Other Service Programs Sponsored by Student Life (Fall Food Drive, Don’t Throw it, Donate it!, Blood Drive, etc.): 525 participants = 4,469 total volunteer hours
Greek Community (philanthropy): 230 participants = 4,600 total volunteer hours
Student Support Services: 100 participants = 800 total volunteer hours
Clubs/Orgs on campus: 130 participants = 550 total volunteer hours
Residence Life: 75 participants = 500 total volunteer hours
Athletic Teams/Student Athletic Advisory Committee: 375 = 1,449 total volunteer hours
Honors Program Students have to do 135 hours over the course of their 4 years. As it is not tracked by year, we always use the number of graduates in a calendar year four our total to maintain consistency. 158 graduates = 21,330 total volunteer hours.
The total volunteer hours come from either groups that are required to do a minimum amount of community service or they self-report through the student organization end of semester surveys.
