A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
The UW-Stevens Point Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology (WIST) laboratory services developed a protocol to test packaging and bioplastic materials to ASTM D6400 and D6868 standards for compostability. This facility is one of only a handful of laboratories in the US that test to these standards.

None
A brief description of any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation (if not reported above):
WIST’s testing protocol is designed to meet ASTM D6400 and D6868 standards for compostability. Compostability provides a useful alternative end-of-life solution because materials can be diverted from landfills and the compost put to productive use yielding a double environmental gain.
