Strategic Plan: We best demonstrate the worth of our university by how we serve our communities, on and off campus. We are proud of our legacy of community engagement under the Wisconsin Idea, including our roots in teacher education and our current partnerships with UW-Extension and numerous other organizations. We further strive to expand our engagement with external stakeholders, and be more responsive to local needs and more relevant to solutions in our region and beyond. Carbon Neutrality Plan addresses forest preservation for carbon storage and campus tree plans.
Master Plan identifies a Green Scheme concept with goals to 1) Become a showcase as a sustainable campus, 2) Integrate Schmeeckle Reserve into campus, 3)Create a “green” campus and 4) Expose urban storm water. The plan includes landscaping objectives. (Native plantings provide wildlife habitat and require less water, fertilizer and pesticide to maintain. Cultivars of native species should be considered for their typically superior qualities (form, color, aesthetics, etc). Exceptions include vegetation where educational purposes suggest another approach, or where a design statement is to be made, both of which may require the use of non-native species. Invasive and overly aggressive native species are prohibited. )

The Campus Master Plan proposes a clear hierarchy of pedestrian pathways within campus.
The plan includes promoting alternative transportation and attitude toward parking. The proposed parking plan includes the removal and addition of several parking lots. In general, parking lots located within the academic core are eliminated due to poor relationship with adjacent buildings; poor relationship to adjacent open space; negative impacts on pedestrian circulation; and opportunities for better land use to meet campus facility needs. Bus routes are also considered.
The Carbon Neutrality Plan includes strategies to reduce carbon emissions from transportation at UW-Stevens Point: Reduce student commuting, Reduce commuting to campus by faculty and staff, Increase percent of the population that uses alternative transportation, Decrease single occupancy vehicles, Reduce miles traveled for official business by faculty and staff, Reduce emissions associated with fleet operations, 100% offset of air travel for faculty and staff, 100% offset of air travel for international student travel
